No News on Sophie

Referrals tend to make me impatient. We have been logged in to the CCAA for 5 months, but the wait keeps creeping up. I think right now it is 13 months for non special needs babies. Really not horrible, as long as it doesn't go much beyond that. I have heard that the wait may go to 18 months. Not good. Chris called LHAA and asked where we are on the WC list. We are the 8th family on the list. LHAA is hoping to get 10 special needs babies sometime in November or December. About what I thought since they still have 2 little boys available on their WC list. Check Living Hope's site if you are interested in adopting a special needs little boy. We are waiting for Sophie to either find us through our agency WC list or for the CCAA to match her to our family. So we wait.

Congrats to all the new families:)

Referrals came out last Friday and this Monday. Congratulations to all the families, especially Mary Mia and Rod over at Salsa in China. They are the proud parents to twins:) :)

TBG Happenings this week!

Wow, busy first week back to work for me....The alarm clock is killing me!!! This week is going to be tough on the kids ( and teachers too :). We had first graders falling asleep after lunch on Friday! Ben had a great first day and likes his new school. One of his buddies is in most of his classes. Hannah also had a great first day. Her teacher is teaching them one new Spanish word a week. Last week it was hand or mano (sp) for those of you who do not speak Spanish. I will have them post something at the end of the week.

The crew also headed out to play golf Sunday morning. They played in a parent/child fundraising tournament for a children's charity here in town. Everyone had a nice time. How do you like Pada's hat :)

No new adoptions news, for us anyway. It looks like it is going to take the CCAA over 2 months to get through 1 month of LIDS. Congratulations to those families who are seeing their babies for the first time this week. We are really hoping to hear something by December. I guess we will just have to be patient...Easier said then done!

Free Dog????

Daisy is back at the vet. Our free dog experienced some complications from her surgery last week. Lets just say it wasn't pretty. Anyway Daisy had to have another $urgery and I will bring her home tomorrow. I am afraid of the vet bill. Really really afraid.

I Freakin Love School Supplies!!!

Well folks its back to school time here in sunny NC :) I love back to school time. New shoes, new pencils, new clothes...Well maybe I just like back to school shopping! I am excited about starting a new school year. I will be sharing a classroom with the other special ed teacher Lindsay. It is going to be a tight squeeze with 5 adults in one room! Thankfully the EC team had decided last year to expand the delivery of special ed services in the general ed classrooms. Hannah will be coming to school with me again this year. It is great to have her in the same school with me, its fun being able to have lunch with her and see her during the day. Her teacher this year is great! Ms. S is from Argentina and is a soft spoken but firm teacher, perfect for Hannah. Ben is off to Mars...I mean middle school. He is excited to be going to a new school and is looking forward to getting back together with some of his friends from Catholic school. I will be sure to post a picture of all of us on our first day back to school this Friday!!

Just What We Needed :)

I would like to introduce you all to our newest addition...Daisy a 3 year old female Shepherd. Daisy is very sweet and is fitting in well with our family. Just in case you don't know, we already have a 6 year old lab mix named Murphy and a cat Sasha. We picked up Daisy from a breeder who could no longer take care of her dogs. Daisy is perfect except for one thing........she is in SEASON, IN HEAT!!! Murphy is a boy dog who has been fixed, but I guess that doesn't mean he is not going crazy!! I brought her to the vet today to be spayed but she reacted funny to the anesthesia and will have to go back on Monday! All weekend I am going to have to watch crazy Murphy and change poor Daisy's doggie diaper! Are you kidding me!!? Chris' advice is that I should laugh....like my sister and father who both fell out laughing when I told them that my new free pure bred dog was in HEAT!! Oh well given the choice I would much rather laugh then cry. I am sure Miss Daisy will be just fine :)

What I've Been Missing.....

Well now that I have your attention :) This weekend we went to Asheville, NC. Always lots of great food, but this weekend I had my first HOT Krispy Kreme Donut! I know its hard to believe that we have lived in NC for over 8 years and I have never had a hot Krispy Kreme. Can I just tell you that it was amazing, delicious, ridiculously good, the perfect temperature and I may never eat another cold donut again. It is a good thing that we don't have a Krispy Kreme here in town or my ASS would be the size of a barn.
